Effective Date: July 11, 2025

Twin Cities Media Group LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the BoKnowsWeather mobile application (the “App”) in partnership with the Weather Agency. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about how we collect, use, and safeguard your information. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information through the BoKnowsWeather App, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, as well as our website [www.mediagrouptc.com & www.theweatheragency.com].

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.

  1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve the App’s functionality and user experience:

  1. Information You Provide
  • Location Data: BoKnowsWeather requires access to your device’s location to provide accurate weather information, including temperatures, radar, weather warnings, and lightning information. You may choose to allow location access “always” or “while using the App.” If you deny location access, certain features of the App may not function properly.
  • User-Provided Information: The App does not require you to create an account or provide personal information such as your name, email address, or other identifiers. However, if you contact us directly (e.g., for support), we may collect the information you provide, such as your email address or feedback.
  1. Automatically Collected Information
  • Device Information: We may collect information about your device, including the device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information, to optimize the App’s performance.
  • Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the App, such as the features you use, the frequency of use, and the time spent in the App, to improve its functionality and user experience.
  • Advertising Identifiers: The App uses advertising identifiers (e.g., Apple’s Identifier for Advertising [IDFA] or Google’s Advertising ID) to deliver personalized advertisements from our third-party advertising partners.
  1. Information from Third Parties
  • Weather Data: We obtain weather-related data (e.g., temperature, radar, warnings, and lightning information) from our partner, the Weather Agency, based on your location.
  • Third-Party Advertisers: Our advertising partners may collect information through the App to serve targeted advertisements, as described in Section 3.
  1. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To Provide Weather Services: Your location data is used to deliver accurate and localized weather information, including temperatures, radar, weather warnings, and lightning alerts.
  • To Improve the App: We analyze usage data and device information to enhance the App’s functionality, performance, and user experience.
  • To Deliver Advertisements: We work with third-party advertisers to display ads within the App. These ads help keep BoKnowsWeather free to use. Advertising identifiers may be used to provide personalized ads tailored to your interests.
  • To Respond to You: If you contact us for support or feedback, we use the information you provide to respond to your inquiries.
  • To Comply with Legal Obligations: We may use your information to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes.
  1. Third-Party Advertising

BoKnowsWeather is supported by third-party advertisers, which allows us to offer the App for free. Our advertising partners may collect information, such as advertising identifiers and device information, to deliver personalized ads. These partners may use cookies, web beacons, or other tracking technologies to collect data about your interactions with the App and other websites or apps.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting your device settings:

  • iOS: Go to Settings > Privacy > Advertising and enable “Limit Ad Tracking.”
  • Android: Go to Settings > Google > Ads and enable “Opt out of Ads Personalization.”

Please note that opting out of personalized ads does not eliminate ads but may result in less relevant advertisements. For more information about our advertising partners’ privacy practices, please review their respective privacy policies.

  1. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. However, we may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • With the Weather Agency: We share your location data with our partner, the Weather Agency, to provide accurate weather information.
  • With Advertising Partners: We share advertising identifiers and device information with third-party advertisers to deliver relevant ads.
  • With Service Providers: We may share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as analytics or hosting, under strict confidentiality agreements.
  • For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, or legal process (e.g., in response to a subpoena or court order).
  • Business Transfers: If Twin Cities Media Group LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
  1. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

  1. Data Retention

We retain your information only for as long as necessary to provide the App’s services, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes. Location data is used in real-time to provide weather information and is not stored persistently unless required for ongoing functionality. Advertising and usage data may be retained in an anonymized or aggregated form for analytics purposes.

  1. Your Choices and Rights

You have the following choices regarding your information:

  • Location Access: You can manage location permissions through your device settings. Disabling location access may limit the App’s functionality.
  • Advertising Preferences: As noted in Section 3, you can opt out of personalized ads through your device settings.
  • Access and Deletion: If you have provided personal information (e.g., through support inquiries), you may contact us to request access to or deletion of that information, subject to applicable laws.

Residents of certain jurisdictions, such as the European Union or California, may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws, such as the right to access, correct, or delete personal information. To exercise these rights, please contact us at [insert contact email].

  1. Children’s Privacy

BoKnowsWeather is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at [insert contact email].
